"The cat in the sun
Is like a sunflower,
Soaking up the sun
Like the way a sponge
Soaks up water."
by A.T.B., age 7 1/2, 2nd grade
A.T.B. has an Extra Special Bond with Snuggles, our tabby cat with white tummy and paws and wise green eyes as well. I was in the Living Room as he pet her and said these words aloud. I hated to spoil the Quiet Moment but got up just the same to grab a pen and paper and write them down before they slipped away into the air – lost forever. I grabbed the camera on my way back to join them, Boy and Cat with their heads close and connected – hand resting on sun warmed fur. She'd moved to another Sunny Patch and indulged me with the camera while I snapped three shots in a row. A.T.B., with an Art Director's Confidence declared, "The second one". So here it is for you to see, along with his poem, which he's going to take to his Very Special Teacher as a Gift in the morning. He's wanted to give her a picture of Snuggles ever since he found out she has a cat named Oreo. He's Rockin' 2nd Grade. Though it's going by Way Too Fast. He'll be turning 8 in July and then start 3rd Grade in the fall… That's when I remind myself to Slow Down and Savor each day in the Here And Now, enjoying each hug, grin, shared laugh and being beside him to meet the New Discoveries Yet To Come.

tamashi rafa,
I'm smiling as I read your kitty cutie poem. have you ever heard the children's story, "The Three Little Kittens"? The next lines is, "They lost their mittens and then began to cry…" It's one of my favorites still and one of the only rhymes I memorized as a child that I still remember.
Hope you have a wonderful day! =^.^=

Thanks, John. I think he's pretty marvelous and "brill" too. He is putting this picture of our much loved cat, Snuggles, in his Animal Notebook. She is one of his mammals, a tabby cat, with her name added in parenthesis. He's in third grade now and growing up FAST! ~ Janean

You're welcome, John. He's one of my favorite topics. I've written more about him and my life in general at Tumblr lately. It's so easy to post there, and I don't feel the same need to be "polished", and have a picture with my written post, like I do here at Opera. Keep thinking I'll copy things over and share them here too, just haven't found/made the time to do so yet. Bottom line, I'm just glad to be writing. Somewhere. ~ Janean
