On the top floor of our home
There is a Nightlight Forest
Providing a soft glow at bedtime
Each one strategically placed
For a lighted path from here to there
Glowing "just in case"

Just in case you need me in the night
Or I need to check on you
The comfort of a light at night
In your rooms and in mine
In the hallway and the bathrooms
a glowing pathway simply shining

Something learned in childhood
Never outgrown as an adult
My husband indulges me
And knows about my fear…
Of the Dark
He's the one who coined the phrase
Nightlight Forest

Best of all, it's portable
Unlike forests rooted in the earth
This one packs up easily
Small as can be
Extra bulbs make the journey too
After a Blackout long ago
When the bathroom light filled in
Left "on" all night on purpose
I need the closet door closed too
But that's another story
Separate from my beautifully glowing
Nightlight Forest
Just five watts each
Chasing away shadows in the night
For a good night's rest
and happy dreams
