one donut was in the box
leftover from yesterday morning
the rest of my family was gone
so I didn't bother with a plate
I ate the day old donut
standing at the kitchen sink
holding the box below
to catch the crumbling icing
and wondered
if I eat a donut in the dark,
when no one is home,
still dressed in my pajamas,
standing by the sink,
when it is raining outside,
on a Thursday morning
do the calories count?
wait
don't answer that
it was oh so good
