So many things change a person life.
The emotions sent to try us,
To make or break us,
The people to hurt or inspire us,
The environments to learn or run from. But nothing can ever change the person,
The emotions make them stronger,
The people make them real,
The environments educate. What is within a person though,
Can be hidden deep inside,
And that’s where it will always be,
‘Till someone comes along and sets it free.

Tomorrow
Tomorrow is a storm cloud;
it rustles, dark and ominous,
through the brittle trees of today. You bit your tongue a little too hard—
the anticipation a little too much—
and mud ran down your neck in rivulets.Let us delay tomorrow
by a day,
and another,
and another. We’ll stay in today for another thousand years.
I will sew up your split ends,
and your split heart.
You will love the undulating wave,
and we’ll sail backwards through history
alone.
Amo Le Sue Ossa: Prose on Dying
Due to my lack of reading material until Christmas I have decided to make a challenge. It’s like an Anon challenge, but without the anonymous part. The challenge will be a simple theme “prose on death and dying”. I will try to pick places 1st through 5th with 5 honorable mentions. If I get at…
Sunshine Sunshine
Throw your rays my way
Light up my face
Like my smile once did
Warm my heart
Like only he couldDon’t hide away
Behind the grey clouds
I’ve been there far too long,
And want to be free,
To sit in the vast blue sea of sky.
Oh Oh Oh!! I love the fact that you actually wrote it out in markers on construction paper!! I could just die!!
Jayarrarr,
That was rather FUN actually! I am very visual and love color. In fact, it added another level of difficulty to the poem challenge, as I had to edit just a bit, so the poem would fit on an 8 1/2” x 11” piece of canary yellow paper. I loved your story about Ella Bella, her mother, grandmother and the man who wasn’t her mother’s father. I got that series of family relations right, didn’t I?!

child of whimsy

baby mine
I love you so
my daughter
mine to raise
alone
just you and me
out in the world
we’ll dance in the rain
splash in puddles
and jump in leaf piles
in the fall
we’ll throw snowballs
make snowmen
and swing so high
on the swings
in the park
we’ll pick bouquets
in Grandma’s garden
chase butterflies
by day
and fireflies
by night
laying in a hammock
we’ll watch the clouds
move across
the summer sky
we’ll laugh
skip
and fill one another up
with joy
I’m smiling as I write
this poem for you
my daughter
about to be born
due one month from today
these promises
I make to you
we will go adventuring
I will be there
always
loving you
my firstborn
child of whimsy,
romance, laughter and love
Ella Bella will you be
now and forevermore

poetry spins and slides
sometimes hides, glides
come along for the ride
ever in motion
Filled with emotion
and tears cried
novel notion
ship upon the ocean
tossed with the waves
lured to the rocks
the sirens cried
words gathered in flocks
warm like socks
born from the school

That’s awesome, I hope they like it! Thank you for that. My name is David, I’m a writer in Los Angeles. It’s great to meet ya! –DMC
David,
It’s great to meet you as well. This is my friend’s reply to the e-mail I sent her with your Daily Doodle. The subject of my email read, “to make you smile…I hope”. She replied, “Hm, funny. Thanks. That’s how I feel EVERY Sunday at Church. I am NOT about the fellowship..not to mention..small Church, lots of snooty cliques..and my husband is ONLY about the socializing..and he’s off visiting w/people while I sit there awkwardly. We don’t go to parties.” ~ Janean
Thank you very much for the follow, it’s much appreciated. :-) Rachael
Rachael,
You’re very welcome! Your words resonated in my heart and I look forward to reading more of what you’re writing here at Tumblr.

No can do…I’m getting paid by Yahoo! Voices now to write pieces (poetry and short stories) based on the assignments they have. I’m posting on tumblr, twitter and FB to get more traffic there as I get paid based on the number of views as well as the upfront assignment pay if there is any. I’m not going to get rich, but at least now I can say I’m a for real published writer as I’m getting paid to write now. I am being looked at to write for Yahoo! Sports as well, which will pay more.
Kevin, THAT IS WAY COOL! I had no idea. Now I get it! Well, I’ve clicked through a few times… I haven’t commented or written anything on your Yahoo posts, but I can keep clickin’. Really happy for YOU! ~ Janean
P.S. Monday is rollin’ along…
