Sunshine picture of my backyard
Morning light is magical and so so good
Brisk out there
April 24, 2023
the wind died down
the air warmed up
the sky is still blue
a little less so now
written March 23, 2014
later in the day
crunch of snow
under boots
jingle of tags
give away the dog
paws are silent
beside me
our walk a dance
of ice avoiding
Blue knows first
he sidesteps
I follow
other times
the leash tension
keeps me upright
I am thankful
we walk
meandering
familiar sidewalks
here and there
throughout the day
and into the night
crunch of snow
under my boots
jingle of tags
silent paws
a woman
and her dog
leaving footprints
as they go

My words. They are pouring out of me right now. Pouring forth at all hours of the day and night. I need to channel them, like water flowing between the banks of a river, but mostly, I just have to write them.

Excerpt from an email I sent earlier this morning. Here is the email time stamp, stating date and time, “On Fri, Jan 3, 2014 at 10:07 AM.”
I hope my children haven’t been snooping. They wouldn’t have to try very hard this year. Their gifts are still unwrapped, tucked in my bedroom closet. Evidently I left both the bedroom and closet doors open when I left my room earlier this evening. Left both lights on too. I didn’t plan to fall asleep! Practically an invitation to say, “Come on it and see what’s going on!” Doggone it! Thankfully now, they are asleep. Christmas morning is nearly here. The rest of tonight and then one more sleep. I’ll wrap tomorrow for sure. Tonight it is time to zzzzz.

12:25am, a new day just beginning, Christmas Eve Day is here.
The sun is coming up now. It is a new day. We are here to greet it. A gift.

“pink glow on the horizon”
the sun rose over the mountains
but my eyes were on the ocean
our day is just beginning

July 31, 2013
I have to do that
Say it aloud
Because now I’m on today
4-H judging at the fair
Living one day at a time
We have enough
We have each other
We are thankful, blessed and loved
We are buoyed by all your prayers
Thank you

up and at ‘em
for awhile
to greet new day
blue sky
Blue dog
birdsong
slight breeze too
walked through park
coffee, breakfast,
getting boys awake

July 7, 2013
summer days
summer haze
a sliver o’crescent moon
as June began
summer days
summer haze
semicircle half a moon
as days goes by
summer days
summer haze
three-quarter moon
makes the sky brighter
as time flies
summer days
summer haze
before you can blink
the moon is full
how can that be
so many moments
have gone by
I’m keeping track
on la lune calendar
doing moon math
summer days
summer haze
next thing you know
a sliver o’crescent moon
will smile again
in July
