a quiet house

I hear birdsong from the front yard
and rain sounds from the back
the quiet whir of the ceiling fan above
with a napping dog on the floor
the silver keys are tapping
beneath my flying fingertips
I’m still in pajamas
even though it’s well past lunch
ah, yes, my favorite kind of day
breathe in
breathe out
just drinking in
the sounds of a quiet house
for the children
are with their Papa

  2. nice to enjoy the sounds 'of silence' – peaceful, especially when you know the noise will return 🙂

No mice here…except the computer kind.
And I don't usually have a mouse plugged in to my shiny, silver laptop.
I do love the quiet of the house though.
Even now, my husband is at work, and the children are sleeping in on Sunday morning and I know I should go wake them, but just a little longer…for all of us…before I do.

I need patience in the face of noise. The silence is the soothing balm, that helps me face the rest. Thank you for your comments, Sigmund. Both of them. I'm replying now…no more silence from me, here at Opera. I've missed the community here too much to stay away much longer in self imposed exile. ~ Janean

A beautiful quote, dW. Thank you for sharing it. Mmmm, whispers, silence. My oldest son is awake, and my Quiet Time for today is Officially Over. ~ Janean

That's right, Jill. Mother's Know, don't we?! The noise and commotion and busy-ness of a house full of family is wonderful, but oh, these quiet moments, when we can think our own thoughts and catch our breath, we NEED these moments too…so we can handle all the rest as we care for our family and meet the needs of those we love. ~ Janean
