it’s a quiet sunrise today
peach gold at the horizon
fading to pale yellow
then brightens and glows
turning the palest of blue
the sky is lightening
beyond that though
the heaven is still
and dark as night
I’m just in from an early walk
across icy driveways and snow packed sidewalks
in the brisk morning air
with my big sweet dog, Blue
now I sit at the kitchen table
a solid oak circle
gazing out the glass doors
to the backyard beyond
and watch the color show
along the horizon
houses and bare trees abound
yet colors come
and hit their crescendo so bright
then gradually they fade to normal
a blue sky and white cloud scene
I don’t move to take a picture
just watch it all unfold
the clock is ticking
one boy awake playing
the other still sleeping
and here I sit
it’s a quiet sunrise today

Yesterday was for buying swimsuits. Today I am throwing away the remains of the last bag of jelly beans, after I save the black ones for my dad. I knew there was one more bag in the pantry and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I finally gave in to temptation. Notice the yellow ones are all gone. Not too many orange ones either. This after I’d already snitched ‘em all out of my sons candy bags. Yes, my name is Janean, and I have a jelly bean problem. It ends today. It has to. Damn. Cause I really love jelly beans, but not the sugar laden calories that I must begin counting. Soon. Double damn. ~ Janean
P.S. THIS is my 500th post on Tumblr! Something had to be. Might as well be a frustrated I don’t want to be a diligent dieter saga about one of the most beloved Easter candies of all, the colorful, oblong, jelly bean. I am wooed and wowed by their pretty colors. I admit they dazzle me with their artificial flavors. Purple = Grape, Yellow = Lemon, Orange = orange (easy one), White = Vanilla, Pink = Berry, Red = Cherry, Black = Black Licorice, Green = Not My Favorite and I Don’t Know
Sun’s up here!
The day has now officially begun!
It’s a beaut too.
My one complaint about my cool new phone with the built in camera is it’s not sophisticated enough to see the nuance of color I can see.
It’s bands of deep orange, alternating with lavender.
I’m standing on the deck in my leopard and rose print pajamas (as garish a combination as it sounds like here, a loving gift from my doting aunt).
The dog was thrilled to go out without asking, and is happily chewing on a stick at my feet.
Time to get cleaned up and then wake my family in twenty minutes time.
I have a breakfast date with my mother.
Smiling at the thought.
Mine is already A Good One.
I ran away from home this morning
in pajamas and polka dot rain boots
my husband knew I wasn’t going far
especially with just a quarter tank of gas
and a phone less charged than that
it’s not even raining
I just like the colors
of the dots
