paws and boots

Blue and I had fun making fresh tracks in the still falling snow just now. When we walked back indoors, after our outside time, I called for my youngest son to come see us. He was indisposed. Oh. I shouted back, “Never mind then. I just look like A Snow Mom.” That two year old pup and I didn’t exactly walk while we were out there. Blue leaped ahead of me, straining at the end of his six foot leash, and alternately circling me, running really fast. Crazy. I say my big, sweet pup is crazy all the time. Just right, made perfect for me kind of crazy. Now we’re happily back inside. My teenage son (13 1/2) is talking his grandparents ears off, using the old-fashioned house phone with the stretchy cord located upstairs. The fire in the fireplace is burning down. This time I’m going to let it. I’m tired. Will tuck in soon, because in the morning, it’ll be time for Blue dog and I to make fresh tracks, paws and boots walking side by side.

dazzle night

enjoy the dazzle of Oscar night
lots of stars and starlets
sashaying upon the red carpet
far away in fantasy land
where dreams are made
or so they say
not here though
not tonight anyway
I turned the television on
to view the red carpet parade
just not in me to ooo and ahhh
at Hollywood’s glittering facade
instead the big dog woofed
several times to make sure I heard
pup took me on a sidewalk stroll
Blue knew I needed moonlight
full moon kind
extra bright
fresh air and quiet calm
as the real stars sparkled
and glistened overhead
brisk air was a balm
good for my soul
real stars
real life
my favorite kind o’dazzle
tonight

I awoke

I awoke with a smile
I nearly always do
sleep refreshes
body, mind and soul

I awoke with a smile
and lollygagged in bed
purring cat sat atop me
‘til sunlight was shining in

I awoke with a smile
even as I heard
a muffled woof
that’d be Blue dog
testing the airways
from the main floor
to see if I was up

I awoke with a smile
and tonight shall fall asleep
with one too
a quiet curving of lips
upturned
speaking of joy
and contentment
within

I sharpened a lot of pencils and smiled the whole time during today’s Art Club. I had so much fun…and the children did too judging from the level of happy noise. The quiet has settled in now, so it must be time for cleanin’ up and headin’ home. Art Circle meets tonight. I sorta love it on those rare times that Thursday arrives with a double dose of art. *happy sigh*
