I’m wool gathering in the kitchen
warming my hands
on a ginormous mug o’joe
leaning on the counter
dishwasher sloshing
running humming
boys watching Clone Wars
now nearly through
snow covers the ground
February air has snap
inside is warm
my kitchen spot the best
for quiet contemplation
coffee drinkin’ daydreams
blue sky is emerging
from behind a wall o’clouds
wool gathering
thinking
not just a barnyard pursuit
baa
brrrr
ya sheared me a l’il close
not yet anyway
shearing is for Spring
after winter wind abates
real wool gathering time isn’t here
not quite yet

drip drop drip

my poet’s heart
is quiet
though my eyes
are leakin’ tears
they fall silently
I can’t always
suck ‘em back
Lord knows
I try
‘cause I really
hate to cry
my poet’s heart
is squeezing
beating
pumping life
yet quiet
drip drop drip
damn it
no time for tears
the sun is shining
a new day begins
gotta go embrace it
my tears will dry
either evaporate
or in the wind

savoring today

I think bad weather is still in the forecast for tomorrow. “Bad,” as in, “snow and ice.” But today?! Today is gorgeous outside with blue sky, white clouds and less vicious biting wind. It nearly feels like Spring, before chill seeps in. Lovely lovely beautiful sunshine day. Much needed.

wind sounds

It’s crazy windy again here today. The wind is literally whistlin’. I love this love seat spot because I can hear the wind chimes chime even as the wind gusts and roars. Blue laid back down to catch more doggy zzzz’s. He is glad for company on the main floor and for gettin’ some good mornin’ loves from me.

February 19, 2013

I savored the rosy glow of sunrise along the horizon, while walkin’ Blue this mornin’. The air has a snap o’chill, yet I’m thankful there was no bitin’ wind.
(Now home from walk. Ready to thaw with coffee, eggs and toast. Check my Weather App. Temp: 13 degrees Fahrenheit. Feels like: 0 It’s officially brrrrrr)

more wind talk

I prayed aloud as I walked Blue on our usual route in the biting wind, at times towing the dog to follow me, as I pressed on against the frigid gusts.
I am not a quitter but I’m not a stupid fool either. < Just had to add that!
God can move mountains. I’ve seen and felt Him do it, time and time again.
I trust God. I love Him too.
Trying to wake up sleepy boys and need to corral a barking dog who has the cat cornered behind the dryer.
Must be Monday morning, and a school day at that.

Did ya see the moon?
The moon was gorgeous, as I walked Blue in the six o’clock hour this morning.
It was big, nearly full and shiny bright.
The sky has been so cloudy here, I missed seeing the moon completely full.
I bet it was on Friday night though, when I was out of sorts and growly. *sigh*
Blue and I had a brrrr morning moonlight stroll. The cold temps didn’t stop me from smiling. I love having that big circle moon to light our way as we walk our familiar route, ‘round the block, through the park, and on toward home.
According to my Weather Channel phone app, the mercury read 15-degrees fahrenheit, and with the wind felt more like five. Good thing I bundled up, grabbed my dog, and moonlit strolled BEFORE I knew the exact temperature…had ya asked me, I just would have said, “It was cold”…and then chatter boxed about the beauty of the moon.

onward

A winter storm is forecast for today. The sky is keeping us guessing with dark, gray clouds hanging low on the right side of the highway, and blue sky peeking through a bit on the left. Hoping blue sky wins (always), but that wind is blowing something fierce. Time will tell. For the moment, moving onward, heading North.
