I nearly always do
sleep refreshes
body, mind and soul

and lollygagged in bed
purring cat sat atop me

a muffled woof
that’d be Blue dog
testing the airways
from the main floor
to see if I was up

and tonight shall fall asleep
with one too
a quiet curving of lips
upturned
speaking of joy
and contentment

children laughing
snowballs flying
smiles shining too
looks normal
from the outside
only the inside knows
the truth
for reality
is anything but normal
life is never boring
if it is

we have your drama
real life kind
eyebrow raising
jaw dropping
gray hair causing too
but from the outside
if you are looking
from your window view
the drama doesn’t show
it’s skillfully hidden
behind brave faces

One student saw me in the hallway before school and asked, “What are we makin’ today?” I grinned a conspiratorial grin and said, “I’m not tellin’. It’s a surprise.”

It’s crazy windy again here today. The wind is literally whistlin’. I love this love seat spot because I can hear the wind chimes chime even as the wind gusts and roars. Blue laid back down to catch more doggy zzzz’s. He is glad for company on the main floor and for gettin’ some good mornin’ loves from me.

The cat was in my closet.
I didn’t know…until I was putting clean clothes away and Blue followed me in.
YOWL WOOF
That cat practically flew to the way back, as I grabbed Blue’s collar, hauled him out and shut the door behind me.
Laundry isn’t for the faint o’heart in these here parts.
Gotta stay on your toes. Always.
Now there are mountain lion growls comin’ from the closet, and Blue is pacin’ and can’t settle down.

I’m workin’ on polishin’ off that Valentine’s Day cake now. My youngest son (age 9 1/2) just said to me, “Mom, ya gonna eat that hunk?” I said, “Yes” and then he pretended to steal my plate o’cake. He already had his! Mine! Mmmmm good too.
