funny story…

My best text of the day was a wrong number.

Happy birthday gorgeous. Enjoy your day hope all’s well.

at 10:11am I replied:
Sweet message, but you sent it to a wrong number. Hope you resend to right person ASAP.

at 10:40am he (I’m assuming) wrote:
Ha my apologies.

I replied:
No problem 🙂

Btw who did I send this to?

I wrote back with my phone number, ‘cause if it were me, I’d want to know which digit I had wrong

New phone and carrier so flying blind. Sorry again whoever this may be 🙂

The small smile and quick laugh, that I shared with a friend, as I read the initial text aloud, added to the fun of it.

That sweet text though
I knew it wasn’t for me
Even if my birthday had been on January 13th
(And it’s not)

a winter’s night

darkness arrives early
and settles all around
the stars are out tonight
I smile up at them
they twinkle back at me
there is Orion
the mighty hunter
with three diagonal stars
the moon is missing
out of view
‘twas less than half size
last time I spied her
in the light of morning
a few days past
when the moon lingered
visible a little longer
shining at the same time
as the sun
in a sky of pale blue

Did ya see the moon?
The moon was gorgeous, as I walked Blue in the six o’clock hour this morning.
It was big, nearly full and shiny bright.
The sky has been so cloudy here, I missed seeing the moon completely full.
I bet it was on Friday night though, when I was out of sorts and growly. *sigh*
Blue and I had a brrrr morning moonlight stroll. The cold temps didn’t stop me from smiling. I love having that big circle moon to light our way as we walk our familiar route, ‘round the block, through the park, and on toward home.
According to my Weather Channel phone app, the mercury read 15-degrees fahrenheit, and with the wind felt more like five. Good thing I bundled up, grabbed my dog, and moonlit strolled BEFORE I knew the exact temperature…had ya asked me, I just would have said, “It was cold”…and then chatter boxed about the beauty of the moon.

life’s a gamble

I’m just gonna let it all ride right now
We’ll know more on January 9th
Good news would tip emotional scale one way
Bad news would tip it down, down, down into the fiery, quicksand pit
Wait and see
Live and breathe
Step by step
Day by day
Between now and then
I’m just gonna let it all ride right now

shhh q-u-i-e-t

it’s a quiet sunrise today
peach gold at the horizon
fading to pale yellow
then brightens and glows
turning the palest of blue
the sky is lightening
beyond that though
the heaven is still
and dark as night

I’m just in from an early walk
across icy driveways and snow packed sidewalks
in the brisk morning air
with my big sweet dog, Blue
now I sit at the kitchen table
a solid oak circle
gazing out the glass doors
to the backyard beyond
and watch the color show
along the horizon
houses and bare trees abound
yet colors come
and hit their crescendo so bright
then gradually they fade to normal
a blue sky and white cloud scene
I don’t move to take a picture
just watch it all unfold
the clock is ticking
puppy napping
one boy awake playing
the other still sleeping
and here I sit
sunrise daydreaming
it’s a quiet sunrise today

mornin’ musings

circlin’ ‘round the block with Blue
in the brisk cold of December
the ground looks covered in stardust
just the grass glitterin’ from frost
not dust from the stars twinklin’ above
in a sky of the darkest black
there are extra lights a shinin’
in a myriad of colors and shapes
‘tis the season for Christmas lights
amidst the sparkling earth and heaven bright
in the stillness of early mornin’
tears threaten but do not fall
as I take in all the sights
the only sounds are boot falls on concrete
and the jinglin’ of my dog’s tags
as I circle the block with Blue
in the early morning hours
while the rest of the family is sleeping
on this December morn

I wonder as I wander,
“When will the robins fly away?”
it is early December now
yet I still see them here
perched in treetops
hopping in the grass
singing a trilling song
“For how much longer?”
cold is lingering
wind is whipping
winter is coming
soon

Dear Robin Red Breast,
You must go now,
so you can return,
and be a sign of spring renewal.
I hope you hear me when I say,
Hurry back, so I can greet you, when you come again, with a smile brightly shining.
I’ll sigh a sigh of springtime,
when temperatures begin to warm,
when winter’s wind gentles to a balmy breeze,
then I’ll whisper, “The robins are back. Spring is here.”
But now, now it’s time to go.
Please.
Love,
Janean

just me
standin’ on sidewalk
while Blue dog plays in a pile o’leaves
we’re walkin’ soon
temps are downright balmy
wind is breezy but not gusty
I’m rockin’ my aqua and brown cowgirl boots
tucked into tapered jeans
got a little jiggle in my walk
the good kind
turned 41 on Saturday
it’s agreein’ with me just fine
Blue is outta the leaves
and off we go
boots and paws on the sidewalk
made it across the street
so Blue could see his best girl
…Luna
