false alarm

Wait. I poured a mug o’coffee and now the rest is draining! YES! My day is looking brighter ‘cause caffeine is gonna hit my weary system. Breathing a BIG sigh o’relief. Please resume your regular programming…just a minor little overreaction. Me?! Ms. Short Fuse?! Yeah. It happens. Now, for that first sip of magical java brew to make it all better…or at least kick start me toward gettin’ ready for Sunday mornin’ church. Carry on and have a fab-u-lous day! Happy kitchen dancin’ here ‘cause my coffee pot works! ~ Janean

life’s a gamble

I’m just gonna let it all ride right now
We’ll know more on January 9th
Good news would tip emotional scale one way
Bad news would tip it down, down, down into the fiery, quicksand pit
Wait and see
Live and breathe
Step by step
Day by day
Between now and then
I’m just gonna let it all ride right now

heart ache

my woman’s heart is breakin’
daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend
life’s been tough for awhile now
doin’ the best I can
cryin’ too many tears
day by day abidin’
movin’ ever forward
walkin’ step by step
thankful for the gift
of each day
we have together
holdin’ it all together
with bailin’ twine and prayers

Note To Self: Don’t kneel on the nearby shelves while trying to rehang the drooping bedroom curtain rod, when you really should go get a proper stepping stool, because now the cheap ass shelves are broken and the curtain is all the way down. Now you have to go get the step stool anyway to fix it, stack up the books that suddenly find themselves without a home, and drag the busted shelves to the curb for garbage day on Monday. No do overs. *sigh*

takin’ the train
and headin’ south
leavin’ town
just for the day
runnin’ to my heart home
where the eagles fly
and white tail play
goin’ to the big brown house
sittin’ high atop the bluff
the home place
thick with woods
and wild things
lookin’ out o’er the river
the mighty Miss-is-ip
Grandpa’s River

as I rode the southbound train from Normal to Alton, Illinois
the first leg of the trip

The oven timer beeped, “done” at 8:30a.m.
I asked my youngest son, as he was quietly sitting nearby, to tell his big brother, “The cinnamon rolls are ready, it’s time for him to save his game, power down and come upstairs to eat.”
Next thing I knew the basement door was flung open, and that littlest boy used a great big voice to shout, “Get your butt up here! Breakfast is ready!”
I gotta admit, his big brother listened and I laughed aloud in reply.
I was still chuckling and smiling as I handed ‘em each a plateful of iced, cinnamon goodness, baked from a refrigerated Pillsbury tube.
Good morning.
May your day be A Good One.
I’m smiling here, still charmed by my youngest son’s cut to the chase translation.
