in no time flat

Spoke too soon
Coffee is brewing
Getting ready to walk Blue
Picked up my coat from kitchen counter
(Yes, I know we have a coat closet!)
…and my husband’s ipad fell from atop my coat right into the dog’s big ole water bowl.
CRAP!!!!
^ except I swore more creatively than that
Good thing ipad has a cover
…and dog is thirsty
Hope it’s gonna be OK
That’s two mishaps in no time flat
I better stop keepin’ track…
*sigh*

just me
standin’ on sidewalk
while Blue dog plays in a pile o’leaves
we’re walkin’ soon
temps are downright balmy
wind is breezy but not gusty
I’m rockin’ my aqua and brown cowgirl boots
tucked into tapered jeans
got a little jiggle in my walk
the good kind
turned 41 on Saturday
it’s agreein’ with me just fine
Blue is outta the leaves
and off we go
boots and paws on the sidewalk
made it across the street
so Blue could see his best girl
…Luna

Note To Self: Don’t kneel on the nearby shelves while trying to rehang the drooping bedroom curtain rod, when you really should go get a proper stepping stool, because now the cheap ass shelves are broken and the curtain is all the way down. Now you have to go get the step stool anyway to fix it, stack up the books that suddenly find themselves without a home, and drag the busted shelves to the curb for garbage day on Monday. No do overs. *sigh*

I have a hanky in my pocket
I’m leakin’ all kinds of tears
my heart, oh how it’s hurtin’
some solace waits for me there
my parents went south yesterday
the highway called their name
my cousin always lives there
next door to Grrr
who got me on this train
for grandpa’s birthday is the reason
number 97 is nearly here
I’m arrivin’ one day early
today’s the day I could come
“Happy last day of 96!”
I brought the last jar of alien goo
they’re really, “Green Tomato Pickles”
but either way, I made ‘em just for you

as I rode the southbound train from Normal to Alton, Illinois
the first leg of the trip

takin’ the train
and headin’ south
leavin’ town
just for the day
runnin’ to my heart home
where the eagles fly
and white tail play
goin’ to the big brown house
sittin’ high atop the bluff
the home place
thick with woods
and wild things
lookin’ out o’er the river
the mighty Miss-is-ip
Grandpa’s River
since always
travelin’ round trip
