Art Circle In Action

Happy Easter Sunday!
Much like Christmas morning my children look forward to waking up to goodies, just for them.
Their Easter Bunny brings LEGOS, you see.
This year they are extra special, “Design By Me.”
One big chocolate rabbit it the norm.
Grandma and Grandpa added the second, smaller bunnies.
The prospect of More Chocolate is a welcome one.
For today is the one day on the calendar that chocolate for breakfast is allowed
…unless chocolate covered donuts,
or the occasional slice of chocolate cake counts.
This is the day pure chocolate, in bunny form is on the menu.
I’m thankful my growing up fast boys still want to do an egg hunt.
Even though the bunny is out of the bag on who does the hiding.

“Happy Day Before Easter!”
it’s the kind of thing my mom always says
I’m the mom now
twas a magnificent sunrise
with red clouds
atop a golden glow
three dozen eggs are boiling
and the youngest boy age eight
is awake and asking, “When?”
“When are we going to dye eggs?”
soon
they are boiling now
and we wouldn’t start
without your brother
busy day
this Saturday
soccer game one at 11:30
soccer game two at 1:30
family meal at my in-laws at 4:00
Easter pageant (night two) at 7:00
a vet trip is pending
my sweet Blue pup had surgery on Wednesday
for, well, you know
and a hernia repair too
he’s pathetic and lethargic
and I’m a worried dog mom
we’re going to laugh, love, smile and cry
hopefully happy tears
perhaps growl a bit too
(and I’m not talkin’ about Blue)
for these are the things families do
indeed it is a
Happy Day Before Easter
…and I just bet
that my mom
will still wish me one
before the day is through
cat care
I’m sitting in a dark, quiet room in a comfy chair, with a purring cat on my lap. I wish I could stay here a little longer. But it’s only a temporary stop. I’ve taken too long here already. Was just supposed to get mail, feed and scoop after cats and go, but I’m running on empty. Everyone’s been home on spring break all week. I’m tapped out. Zapped out. Needing a fill up with some quiet time and space. Kitty cuddles help too. I like this lap warming cat a lot more than the yelling, mad, hungry wisp of old gray cat that met me at the door. I think she was running on E too, needing some cuddles right back. Ah, much better. I should be able to face the noise, chaos and commotion that one man, two boys, a six month old puppy and mad about the dog cat fill a house with. My house. I’ll be walking in the door in five minutes…once I get up from this chair that is. ~ Janean
Happy 1st Birthday, Turquoise Tangles!

Sunrise over the backyard at 6:50am.
On a Saturday.
Been up since 5:00.
I am A Dog Mom now.
He woofed.
My feet hit the floor to let him out.
You know.
To go.
Stayed up.
Might as well.
Morning is here.
Loving the coffee.
And the Puppy & Me time.
He’s A Good Dog.
My Blue.
Just as well I didn’t know
That it was only ten degrees
Until AFTER our 20 minute morning walk
He’s ready for a nap now
Smart Boy that he is
Of course it’s as my other boys are waking up
The two smaller ones
And the big one
The sun is rising higher
The sky is brighter
Saturday has Officially Begun
Blah
Blah
Up too early
No napping
Showered
No time for make up
No time for drying hair
Laughed taking my boys to school
Together laughs
Taking turns being funny laughs
The drive was too short this morning
I wanted to keep ‘em with me
Laughing
A bit longer
Now the car is silent
Missing them
And feeling blah
Blah
Blah
Blah
Will try to snap out of it
Soon
Until then
One more

December 13, 2011: Love is…
Love is saying this morning, “I’ll take the boys to school and then go to Meijer,” because you know I’m trying to finish some artwork for a one day show tomorrow that I’m simultaneously excited, nervous and freaked out about, even though you re-start chemo today and have your own set of nerves about that.
December 1, 2011
Today’s the day.
My fortieth birthday.
Glad you’re finally here.
I’m baking a cake to celebrate.
It’s goin’ in the oven soon.
We’ll eat it after supper for dessert.
Taking my boys to school.
Lunch with my mom and sister in law.
We’re The December Birthday Girls.
Goin’ to Red Lobster.
Seeing a friend about some cookies.
They will be the Art Club snack.
Settin’ up for Club.
Makin’ art, with a roomful of energetic children.
My sons included.
Then Home.
For the rest of the night.
It’s going to be A Good Day.
How can it not be?
Family, Friends, Art, Cookies, Cake and Home.
Sounds like The Perfect Day to me.
I’m plannin’ to ROCK forty…
it is The New Thirty after all.
Love,
Janean
