December 13, 2011: Love is…

Love is saying this morning, “I’ll take the boys to school and then go to Meijer,” because you know I’m trying to finish some artwork for a one day show tomorrow that I’m simultaneously excited, nervous and freaked out about, even though you re-start chemo today and have your own set of nerves about that.

book love

pavorst:

I bought a book from an old friend yesterday.
As I was leaving, she told me to destroy it.
She told me to dog-ear it, to demolish it,
to underline and write notes and just love it.
“This is how a book knows that you love it”,
she told me, handing over my change.
Today, I will love my book properly.

I like to write in books, leaving tracks of my thoughts written in the margins and the white spaces at the beginning and end of chapters. I dog-ear too. I do. However, the exception to this rule is library books. Always. Those are treated with the utmost care, for they do not belong to me. They are just in my possession temporarily. ~ Janean

Today is a mystery

Today is a mystery

sort of wide open

with things that need done

not sure I want to do any of them

so I will do some

one appointment I won’t miss

and no, it’s not the dentist

I hope it’s filled

with family and friends

with laughter,

smiles, hugs and grins

the tears need to stay at bay

I don’t have time

for you today

so far

so good

snow prayers

my youngest son

is yearning

longing

dreaming

wanting

wishing

and praying

for snow

since it wasn’t today

maybe tomorrow

in his eight year old mind

he’s waited long enough

for snowballs

snow forts

snowmen

and snow days

please God

let it snow soon

for him

I want to see his smile

and join him

in snow play

now I’m prayin’

for snow

too

bein’ girly

I am bein’ girly today

meetin’ a friend this morn

we’re going to gab,

chit chat and laugh

while our feet are soaked,

scrubbed and buffed

then our toes

polished in vivid hues

we’ll slip our flip flops on

talk a little more

hug goodbye

both of us feelin’ lighter

on the inside

after our time together

sharing hearts

over pedicures

two women

bein’ girly

my birthday present

a little early

from a wonderful friend

who insisted

on treatin’

Thank you, Kim!

I. Can’t. Wait.

Will see you soooooon!

Love,

Janean

TODAY IS FILLED WITH PRAISES!

TODAY IS FILLED WITH PRAISES!

Before the doctors came in on rounds,
it was an especially gorgeous sunrise,
with bands of color across the horizon.
Even more spectacular,
than yesterday’s golden glow.

Good news from The Pathology Report.
A clear CT scan.
Minimal air around the lungs.
Nothing showed up on the x-ray.
Going home.

Staples out today.
Hemoglobin OK.
I am crying tears of Joy.
Why do we doubt,
when God is so good?
He has this under control.
He’s showing us,
step by step,
I have this.
Trust Me.
But we doubt.
We worry.
We fret.
Well, I do.
Even when he gives us the gift
of a sunrise in vivid hues
to say, “I Am Here”.
Thank you, God.
It’s your prayers.
All of them.
Each and every one.
We are so overwhelmed
with the power of them,
as God keeps moving mountains
from our path.

He hears them.
He answers.
In His time.
In His way.

God is good.
All the time.
How Great Is Our God!
Love and thankfulness
for each of you,
for walking so closely with us
on my husband’s journey
through cancer,
from diagnosis to survivor,
is our prayer.
